How old is the sun?

The Sun is about 5,000 million years, while the Earth was formed about 4,700 million years ago, according to the most reliable astronomical theory currently determined based on radioactive dating.

The Sun is a star of medium size with a lifespan of about 10,000 million years, which is estimated at half of its life. It is one of the stars with longer life because their burn rate is very slow, ie, the process by which converts mass into energy it takes to lose about 4 million tons of mass per second, while others stars, such as Rigel in the constellation Orion, lose mass at a rate 700,000 times greater than the Sun. This means that the life of Rigel is only 100 million years.
